These students were protesting against the segregated seating arrangements at this restaurant. After hearing their stories, other college students joined them. These students continually rotated in order to make sure that there was a black citizen/student sitting at the lunch counter in protest. Eventually, Woolworth's got rid of their segregated seating policy.
