The presidencies were similar in that both presidents were democrats and they faced similar upheavals in society like the Civil Rights movement and the Vietnam crisis which was escalating during Kennedy's time of president and led Johnson to ask Congress for the permission to exercise more direct force in Vietnam.
Explanation:
Kennedy was known to try to push sweeping legislation in favor of disadvantaged populations in the United States like the Area Redevelopment Act and the Housing Act of 1961, but Lyndon B. Johnson also passed many reforms like the Clean Air Act and the Civil Rights Act. After he was elected in 1964, Johnson continued to press for reforms that continue to be important today. For example, the social security amendments of 1965 created the healthcare programs Medicare and Medicaid. Both presidents also faced the Cold War and both governed in a period characterized by social upheaval with drug culture and opposition to the Vietnam War.
