The flappers was very popular in the 1920's, because it was critically issue for women to show some skin, dresses knee-length with a dropped waistline, silk or rayon. The positive way with flappers is that they changed the way women were perceived as well as opened doors of equal opportunity for women today. The negative aspect was that men didn't agree with the way women acted. Women wanted to be free and lose, they didn't want to marry soon.
Now, in the today's society, women are obligated to wear whatever they want without someones consent . Many women today they live a productive life for themselves. Today women can express the way they want to express .
Music
Throughout the 1920s jazz music evolved into an integral part of American popular culture, fashion in the 1920s was another way which jazz music influenced popular culture. The Women´s Liberation Movement was furthered by jazz music, as it provided means of rebellion against set standards of society. Negatives aspect of 1920s jazz music was that it was sensual in a way and people didn't not like it. But the young rowdy people did; As a result in this a lot f black musicians were socially affected , and , they had limited opportunities to showcase their originality and were forced to create music that appealed to the whites.
Today's music varies from different types of genes to people preferences. Not everyone listen to to the same thing, but people do tend to listen to popular artists on the radio, because their music is played everywhere. The positive effects on society these days is that everyone uses music for everything. Teachers play music in the class while their students work, people use it to make their videos original, and people also use music as a stress reliever. But there is a down fall on popular music, not people agree with the way music evolved, people don't like the explicit lyrics to a song, the message of the song, and the sound of the song. Young adults teenagers, and even younger kids listen to popular music mainly ranging to rap/hip-hop, pop, and R&B.
Radio and Media
In the 1920s, the radio was considered the most powerful way of communication, by the end of the decade, 60% of Americans had a radio in their homes to listen to current events right as they were happening. The radio began broadcasting popular music, sporting events, newscasts, and weather reports. The radio was considered a good thing for most people because of the greater economy created, however, the advanced of the radio technology also created a tension between old and new traditions of Americans. Then after that the news paper and magazine became very popular source of communication for people to stay updated. A negative aspect of media was, what was aloud to be put in media.
Today's media is so strong and powerful in 2017, almost everyone has media has super evolved into social media, social media an be good and bad. And media has changed the perspective of the way people look at things. The positive aspects of media these days are, you can connect with friends and family instantly, news reports left and rightbias news maybe, , stream music you want to hear, famous people you want to follow its a great thing to see different types of interesting things. The negative things about media and social media is that everything bias these days, not everything to see on media is true, and people are really nice these days on social media.
Reading and Art
Reading was popular in the 1920s as more and more people became literate, throughout the 1920s, writers from all over the world were winning Noble Prizes for their work. A popular writer named F. Scott Fitzgerald during the jazz age, was most known for his book "The Great Gatsby" & "This Side of Paradise". Writers portrayed the jazz age negative side of gaiety and freedom, and how how many rich people were greedy.
In today's art we can express feelings and thoughts through literature and art, gives people freedom of speech even though people will still over voice one another. Expression through art now is very toned down in the art community.
Sports
Sports which grew and flourished in 1920s due to unprecedented publicity and promotion included baseball, tennis, golf, swimming, football, and boxing. Newspapers, magazines, radio and movies all played a role in boosting the profile of sport and sporting giants. Negative aspects on sports linked to coaching behavior included favoritism, poor teaching skills and increased pressure to win. So this gave a negative atmosphere and decreased the fun of playing the sport. Society is very settled on sports mostly football during today's era.
