Jesus taught us to love our enemies and to seek peace and pursue it. He was called the Prince Of Peace. "Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you; That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven". Peace is the opposite of war and since we are commanded to pursue peace we should most certainly do our best to prevent war. On the other hand, Exodus 15:3 tells us "The Lord is a man of war: the Lord is his name". All throughout the old testament, we see God leading the Israelites to conquer through war. David was a man of war and also the only man in the whole bible that God calls a man after his own heart. So yes, peace should be pursued but sometimes wars are necessary and they can most certainly be just.
