The event that prompted the formation of the First Continental Congress is the Boston Tea Party. At the beginning of US history, the British had control over the 13 colonies that they owned in North America. They managed all levels of society in politics and economics.
Further explanationThe British settlers were unhappy with this situation. They wanted more power and independence from their home country. The most important event of this revolution took place in Boston, December 1773. The conflict began when the inhabitants of Boston started to boycott the tea from England. The tea was therefore sold illegally by merchants who did not pay taxes. Then, England decided to abolish taxes on tea which allowed large companies to resell this product to the colonies. But, the United States did not let it happen and blocked the boats which came from England. In Boston, there was a group of 60 people who boarded the ships and threw all the tea stock into the sea.
This event was the beginning of the colonist's revolution in the United States and the formation of the first congress.
