The Great Awakening.
The Great Awakening was a series of Christian revivals between the 1730s and 1740s. The movement affected Protestantism and saw the emergence of evangelicalism as a transdenominational movement within Protestant churches of the United States.
Revivalists focused on their need of salvation and fostered introspection and commitment to personal morality. Preachers sought to include every person in conversion, regardless of gender, race and status. The movement converted many African slaves and free blacks to Christianity.
