The colonial policies of Britain created many problems for the inhabitants of the colonies.
Explanation:
Even after the abolition of the Stamp Act, the inhabitants of the colonies had many problems with the British. In 1765 a law was issued for the placement of British troops in the territories, which caused much resentment. Residents viewed this act as additional levies by the British. Each time the colonists opposed any of the British practices, restrictive measures would be envisaged for them. Thus, in 1767, the British dissolved the New York Assembly, thus removing the representatives of the people. In 1767 Parliament also passed Townshend customs, taxes on paper, paints, glass and tea, goods imported into the colonies from Britain.
Because these taxes were levied on imports, the British considered them to be "external" taxes rather than internal taxes like the Stamp stamp. The pinnacle of discontent occurred in Boston in 1773. It was a kind of provocation by which the citizens of Boston expressed their dissatisfaction with British economic policy toward the American colonies. The British government passed a Tea Order allowing the East India Company to sell tea directly to colonies at a price lower than that of the black market. Enraged by this policy, the Bostonians boarded three British ships that imported tea and dumped all their supplies into the sea. The incident was an impetus for the entire American population to oppose the British, which eventually led to the American War of Independence.
