The agreements of Munich were approved and signed during the night of September 30, 1938 by the heads of government of the United Kingdom, France, Italy and Germany, with the aim of solving the Sudeten Crisis.

Through the Italian dictator Benito Mussolini and on the initiative of Hermann Göring, the British Prime Minister, Arthur Neville Chamberlain); and his French counterpart, Édouard Daladier; they approved the incorporation of the Sudeten (belonging to Czechoslovakia) to Germany, because most of its inhabitants were German speaking. No representative of Czechoslovakia was present. The United Kingdom and France were pleased with the wishes of the German population of the Sudetenland and considered this agreement as a partial revision of the Treaty of Versailles.
