A scientist conducts an experiment with two trees over many years. The shorter tree had a starting height of 50 inches and the taller tree has a starting height of 70 inches. The scientist apply fertilizer to the shorter tree and it grows at an average rate of 8 inches per year. The taller tree does not have fertilizer applied to it and it grows at an average rate of 6 inches per year. The equation 50 + 81 = 70 + 6t represents the situation.
