The satellite needs to be roughly 5-6 thousand miles above the earth. the reason is: if the satellite is higher in space, the more it can connect to technology on earth, but it also depends how big the satellite is, for instance, if you wanted to text somebody in china and you are in america, your signal beams up to the satellite and then beams down to the person you are texting. if the satellite is not high enough in space then it will not be able to reach china and or america. but if it is a bigger satellite and it is higher in space, then the coverage will be phenomenal. hope this , btw i didn't and will not get a warning ; )
