The radius of a circle is always half of the diameter. It is given that the diameter of the hole is 30 cm. So, the radius of the hole is:

$r=\dfrac{30}{2}$

r=15

Area of a circle is:

$A=\pi r^2$

Putting $\pi = 3.14$ and r=15 in the above formula, we get

A=(3.14)(15)^2

A=(3.14)(225)

A=706.5

Therefore, the area of the hold is 706.5 square cm.
