The three (3) consecutive numbers are:  17, 18, and 19.

Explanation:

x + (x+1) + (x+2) = 54 ;

in which the three consecutive number are: x, (x + 1), and (x + 2) ;

Given:  

x + (x+1) + (x+2) = 54 ; Solve for: "x" ;

x + (x+1) + (x+2) = 54 ;

→ x + x + 1 + x + 2 = 54

3x + 3 = 54 ;

Subtract "3" from each side of the equation;

3x + 3 - 3 = 54 - 3 ;

to get:

3x  = 51 ;

Divide each side of the equation by "3" ; to isolate "x" on one side of the equation; and to solve for "x" ;

   3x / 3 = 51 / 3 ;

   x = 17 ;

 x + 1 = 18 ;

 x + 2 = 19 ;

The three (3) consecutive numbers are:  17, 18, and 19.

Let us check our work:  17 + 18 + 19 =? 54 ? ; 

                                             35 + 19 =? 54 ? Yes!
