For two weeks, Gabrielle raised money by selling magazines. She raised $72 during the second week, which brought her total to $122. Write and solve an equation to find how much Gabrielle raised during the first week. Show that your answer is reasonable.

Ok so if Gabriel’s total is 122$ and she made 72$ The second week your equation would be 122= 72x  now if you subtract 72 from both sides that cancels out the 72 leaving you with 50=x.

The percentage increased by 42.86%.

First: work out the difference (increase) between the two numbers you are comparing.

Increase = New Number - Original Number

Then: divide the increase by the original number and multiply the answer by 100.

% increase = Increase ÷ Original Number × 100.
