Johnson runs 4 miles per week. He increases the distance by 5 miles each week. Vena runs 2 miles per week. She increases the distance by 9 miles each week.

Solve by graphing and show your work. (except 1.C)
1.A - How many weeks will it take until their distance is equal?
1.B - What's the mile difference?
1.C - How do you solve by graphing?

my answers:
J = initial value = 4 | slope = 5
V = initial value = 2 | slope = 9

J = y=5x+4
V = y=9x+2

Half a week (0.5 weeks)
6.5 miles

5x + 4 = 9x + 2
9x - 5x = 4 - 2
4x = 2
4x/4 = 2/4
x = 0.5 weeks

y = 5x+4
y = 5(0.5)+4
y = 2.5+4
y = 6.5 miles
