B and D are the only true statements.

A function is a relation for which each value from the set of the first components of the ordered pairs is associated with exactly one value from the set of second components of the ordered pair. Alternatively, you can think of this as for each x, there is one and only one y. Clearly that is not the case here, but it is the equation of the vertical line .

To solve for x, you should try to get x by itself on one side of the equals sign. To do this, you will be able to add or subtract the two items that have "x" in them as well as the two whole numbers 

6x - 3 = 5x - 5

First you can combine the whole numbers (3 and 5) together on one side of the equation by either adding 3 to both sides, or 5. Below I've added 3 to both sides

6x = 5x - 5 + 3

6x = 5x - 2

Then you can combine the x's on one side. Below, I've subtracted 5x from both sides of the equation:

6x - 5x = -2

Because 6x - 5x = x ... x = -2
