I had a similar question:

Rachel is training for a cycling tournament. She can bike 2.25 miles in 0.2 (aka. one fifth) of an hour. At this rate, how many miles can she bike in 1.33 hours?

The answer to my question is 15, here is the explanation mine gave:

First, find the number of miles Rachel can bike per hour by finding the unit rate. To find the unit rate, divide the number of miles by the number of hours. To divide the numbers, write both numbers as fractions with a common denominator and divide the numerators.  So, Rachel can bike 11.25 miles in one hour.  Next, find the number of miles Rachel can bike in 1.33 hours by multiplying the unit rate, 11.25, by 1.33 hours.  

So, Rachel can bike 15 miles in 1.33 hours.

(sorry, there was the actual equations but it wont let me put them.)

For your question, just find what one third of the miles is and add it to the total miles. (Your answer would be 3)
