A) Find the probability that both can identify Sweden on the map.
since both variables are independent, we just multiply the probability of 1 person identifying Sweden by the probability of the other person identifying Sweden = 0.6 x 0.6 = 0.36 = 36%
B) Find the probability that neither can identify Sweden on the map.
we will use the same formula as above = 0.4 x 0.4 = 0.16 = 16%
C) Find the probability that at least one American can identify Sweden on the map.
in order to determine the probability of at least 1 person identifying Sweden, we just subtract the probability that none does it from 100%.
= 100% - 16% = 84%
this includes the possibility of just 1 or the 2 people being able to identify Sweden.
