Although there is no diagram here for me to give a sufficient answer, I still believe I could help you.  To rotate a figure about the origin counter clockwise is just what it sounds like.  Imagine a line connecting each point of the figure to the origin that cannot change its size.  Imagine you rotate the line 90 degrees counter clockwise, keeping it attached to the origin.  Wherever the new endpoint of the line is, is where the new point of the translated figure is.  If you could attach I diagram, I'm sure I could explain it much more satisfactorily.
