Two boats are anchored in the harbor, separated by a horizontal distance of 16 m.
The boats bob up and down as waves enter the harbor. When one boat is at its
highest point, the other is at its lowest point and there are no wave crests between
them. Each boat makes exactly 3 complete up-and-down cycles every 12.0 S. The
vertical distance between a boat's highest and lowest position is 3.2 m.
Determine the wavelength, frequency, period, amplitude and speed of the waves.
Include at least two significant digits on your answer.

Frequency (Hz):
Period (s):
Amplitude (m):
Speed (m/s):

wave length = 32 m
frequency = 0.25 hertz
period = 4 s/cycle
Amplitude = 1.6 m
speed = 8 m/s
Explanation:
Horizontal distance between two boats = x = 16 m
One boat is at trough, the other is at crest.
As there is no crests between them meaning the boat are next to each other.
Wavelength is the distance between two consecutive crests/troughs = w
The distance between a crest and a trough next to it = w/2
Complete cycles = c = 3
Time taken for c cycles = t = 12 s
Vertical distance between two boats = y = 3.2 m
To find:
wavelength = w = 2x
2 ×16 = 32 m
Amplitude = A
= Displacement from mean to extreme position
= y/2 = 3.2/2
= 1.6 m
Time period for one cycle = T = t/c
= 12/3 = 4.0 s/cycle
frequency = 1/T
= 1/4 = 0.25 hertz
speed = wavelength/Period
= w/T = 32/4 = 8.0 m/s

14.95%
Explanation:
First we will determine the market risk premium which shall be calculated as follows:
Market risk premium=Expected annual return of market-Risk free return
In the given question
Expected annual return of market=13%
Risk free return=Return on T-Bonds=6.5%
Market risk premium=13%-6.5%=6.5%
Based on above Market risk premium, the firm required return shall be calculated as follows:
Firm required return=Risk free return+Beta*Market risk premium
=6.5%+1.30*6.5%
=14.95%
