Ans. Role and contribution of Shah Waliullah in Khilafat movement:
Shah Waliullah played an instrumental role in fanning the idea of "Pan-Islamism" in south Asia. He was of the idea that there is a need for the Muslims to unite for Jihad i.e the holy war against the infidel. He was not only able to fuel the pan-Islamic sentiment among the common people, but was also successful in creating a whole new generation of Islamic scholars so that this ideas gets going. He was also of the idea that Muslims should avoid integrating into to Hindu culture this interaction and integration would result into waning of Islamic values and faith.
Role and contribution of Ch.Rehmat Ali in Khilafat movement:
Ch. Rahmat Ali was perhaps the most vocal supporter of the separate state of Pakistan for Muslims. He was the one who brought the idea of Pakistan in the mainstream culture. In a famous pamphlet "Now or Never: Are we to Live or perish forever “in 1933, he categorically highlighted that Muslims living in India should get a separate nation of their own. He was successful in mobilizing the political elites to incorporate this demands in their political movement.
