A mental set is a set of behaviors and opinions that we have had for a long period of time so that they have almost become our habit. It was Gonzalo's habit to push the button in order to get his car door to open, and even though he subconsciously realizes the system isn't working properly, he will keep pushing the button out of habit.

Aside from being monotheistic belief systems that arose in the Middle East, Christianity, Judaism and Islam have a great deal in common. There are notable similarities in notions of sacrifice, good works, hospitality, peace, justice, pilgrimage, an afterlife and loving God with all one's heart and soul.
