The ruler was a ruler of the great island that's floating above the clouds. The ruler could be called by various names, such as Ha-wen-ni-yu, which means He who governs or The Ruler.
The ruler lived on an island where all things needed would be provided. There was no pain and no death. The ruler than wanted to make a new place where the other people can grow. In the end, only the turtle could support the earth on his back. The earth was eventually placed on the back of his shell.

Women were respected in society. Iroquois believed that women had a very important role. Other than raising children and the crops, the women could also be the leader of the clan. They were able to own properties and homes too.

The Iroquois was under the guidance of a Peacemaker. They were told to stop harming one another and created a partnership that was based on reason and logic to ensure peace.
