Corporal punishment refers to physical disciplinary action that is delivered by parents to their children as punishment to wrong doings or children misbehavior. Some examples of corporal punishments includes,
Spanking (this is very common and usually with an object, for instance stick, paddle, belt or whip) Slapping, pulling (usually on the hands or face) Pinching (this can be anywhere in the body)In the United States, corporal punishments continue to be an issue that called the attention of the government and is highly debated among experts and parents.
Increased cases of physical child abuse has led to the argument about whether corporate punishment should remain legal and what measures or mechanism could be used to reduces the increase rate of physical child abuse in the united states.
Corporate punishment is legal in the United States on a federal level but the types of physical punishment allowed according to the states laws differs.
Over time, corporal punishment worsens children behavior. In fact recent study shows that spanking, slapping or pinching a child increases aggressive behavior, although it may lead to immediate compliance, it is not effective in the long-term
