El impacto ecológico de la conquista Española fue devastador para las distintas regiones de América a las que llegaron y liego conquistaron.
Recordemos que los Españoles estaban interesados en explotar la incontable cantidad de recursos naturales que habían en la región de México, Centro América y Sudamérica. En concreto, materiales preciosos, principalmente el oro.
El oro fue la obsesión de los conquistadores Españoles y no descansaron hasta descubrir las supuestas minas llenas de oro que existían en regiones como el tal buscado "EL Dorado" en Sudamérica, o el famoso tesoro de Moctezuma, emperador Azteca.
Otro factor que contaminó el medio ambiente e hizo desaparecer al 70% de la población indígena, fue la serie de enfermedades que portaban los Españoles y que no eran conocidas en América, y por lo tanto, los indígenas no eran inmunes y fallecieron. Hablamos de la viruela, la influenza, la peste, el ébola, entre muchas otras.

La forma de conquistar de los Españoles fue a través e crear alianzas con los pueblos sometidos por grandes imperios guerreros, como fue el caso del Imperio Azteca. Hernán Cortés creó alianzas con pueblos sometidos por los Aztecas como los Tlaxcaltecas y los Cholultecas, quienes aportaron miles de hombres al ejército de los Españoles.
