The third answer is true (C).
South Africa is a country situated on the southern tip of the African continent and is bathed by the Atlantic and Indian Oceans. It is the richest country on the continent, with a high index of human development, many natural resources and an economy based on mining and the chemical, steel and other industries.
The country is marginally black, 70%, and at the time of its independence, in 1931, it experienced a legally institutionalized racial segregation regime, which became known as apartheid, in which the privileged white minority controlled the black majority.
The segregation regime lasted until the 1990s, when the first multi-party elections took place, electing Nelson Mandela in 1993 as the country's first black president. Mandela received the Nobel Peace Prize for his efforts against the apartheid regime.
