An inhibitor that can be used to block the release of calcium from the endoplasmic reticulum is PHOSPHOLIPASE C.
Explanation:
Phospholipase C is an enzyme that cleaves phopholipids, it does this through addition of water molecules. The enzyme is membrane associated, this means that it always act at the surface of cells. Phospholipase C can also acts as an inhibitor, for instance, it can prevents the release of calcium from the endoplasmic reticulum. Calcium serves as a second messenger in the phospholipase C signal transduction pathway and its release can be inhibited or activated by the enzyme.
