How would defective elastic fibers impair the functions of the organs and tissues?

Elastic fibers are specialized type of fibers that are found in the blood vessels.  They exhibit proteins named as elastin, fibrin and microfibrils that provides structural and mechanical support to the blood vessels and provides elasticity and resilience to the tissues. The elasticity of the blood vessels tissue is important because the pressure inside the blood vessel may vary according to the speed of flow of the blood. The high blood pressure may exert force on the walls of the blood vessel, this may lead to rupture of blood pressure and can lead to cardiac arrest.

Therefore, defective elastic fibers may exhibit lack of elasticity which may lead to rupture of the blood vessels, hence may affect the function of the heart, kidney, lung or any other vital parts of the body.
