Since molecules are particles of matter, it takes energy to move them. Heat is a form of energy. It causes molecules to bounce into each other separating them. As molecules separate, their density, the amount of matter found in a given volume or space, decreases. Air that is heated will rise, therefore, because the gravitational force of the earth on the heated molecules is less than it was on the higher density collection of molecules.
Therefore the molecules will spread and become partially flowful- Like the molecules in liquid.
They vibrate or move around vigorously depending on their state of matter. If there is enough heat, the intermolecular bonds can break into smaller molecules or separated atoms.
And when you cool molecules to 0 degrees Kelvin, you reach Absolute Zero, a point in which the molecules don't move at all.
