Yttrium iron garnet crystal has a chemical formula of Y3Fe5O12, (or 3Y2O3 ⋅ 5Fe2O3) the five iron(III) ions occupy three tetrahedral (A sites) sites and two octahedral (B sites) and, with the yttrium(III) ions coordinated by eight oxygen ions in an irregular cube. The iron ions in the two coordination sites (A and B sites) are antiferromagnetically coupled. Assuming Fe3+ has an atomic moment of 5µB, calculate the magnetization of YIG and compare your results to the real magnetization of YIG.
