Genre and point of view contribute to the power of Holocaust literature in a deep and important way. It was a very serious event in history and reading a person’s point of view shows us how the conditions were in different people’s lives. It also allows the reader to feel the events in depth and how they actually happened.
The contribution of genre and point of view to the power of Holocaust literature can be seen as mentioned below:
If we talk about "All Rivers Run to the Sea" by Elie Wiesel, we find out:
•The real power of Holocaust literature by the real experiences presented forth by the author.
•We also find out more about the Jewish culture through the eyes of the author.
•The instances presented by the author tells the reader about the Jewish families and how they went through great troubles because of the hatred that prevailed at the time, towards them.
•The author also mentions the resilience of the people as they faced the difficult times together and tried to rise up from the painful experiences they had to go through.
The other book “Maus” is more of a graphic novel which tells us about the author Spiegelman interviewing his father about the experiences he had as he was a Holocaust survivor. The book also won a Pulitzer Prize in 1992 as it was an in important work of Holocaust literature.
Both the books are told from a first person point of view i.e. from a Jewish survivor's perspective.
