Fleming is one of the world's most popular opera stars. In 2010, she accepted a job at the Lyric Opera of Chicago.
Part of her job is to share this form of music with wider audiences. She was full of ideas, but what she was
especially excited about was coaching teens at a music school in Chicago. Students in the program take backstage
hours of an opera house. They have the chance to observe singers in rehearsal Fleming says that these
opportunities are valuable for developing singers. She hopes to find and encourage promising young singers. The
program is becoming well known and serves as an example to other communities
