As mentioned in the previous sections, the story of La Llorona has many different versions rooted in the Mexican culture. The main elements present in every version include a woman who:
has a bad or failed romantic relationship; because of this, she drowns her children.
appears afterwards near bodies of water, weeping and wearing white.
tries to lure children wandering near bodies of water to a watery grave.
Create your own La Llorona tale inspired by your culture. It can be set in modern times or in the past, in the U.S. or in another country, located in a small seaside city or in a big city next to a river, etc. Make sure that you include the three main elements listed above and specific details that reflect your culture.
