Read the excerpt from "Fulton Fish Market." Alfred was thrilled on his walk home. Passing the Brooklyn Bridge, which was just starting to be built, he almost yelped for joy. But he hadn't won the battle yet. For the next three weeks Alfred and Mr. Zanetti played out the same scenario. Alfred would wait for his chance to help when Mr. Zanetti was busy with something else, and then scurry back to the curb when Mr. Zanetti turned his cold, hard stare on him. But every night, Mr. Zanetti would flick a nickel at Alfred's feet.

Alfred and Mr. Zanetti are similar because

they are both looking for jobs.
they don't understand each other.
they aren't very interested in fish.
they both know what the other is doing.
