He supported progressive reforms, because of that he supported government regulations of the railroad industry.1902 Progressives started a series of political reforms that aimed to improve citizens participations in politics. Initiative and referendum processes and popular election of Senators were approved. 1906 the Meat Inspection Act and Pure Food and Drug Act were passed. This was very important because it set standards for meat-packing industry, all of this was pushed by the publication of the book called The Jungle that exposed the poor conditions of the slaughterhouses.1910 the Mann-Elkins Act is passed. It strengthened the Interstate Commerce Act which required railroad rates to be reasonable and just the act showed itself to be ineffective.1912 Woodrow Wilson is elected president of the US. In this election the Progressive Party entered the presidential race but Woodrow Wilson the candidate of the Democratic Party won the race.1913 The Federal Reserve Act passed. It created 12 regional Federal Reserve banks to be supervised by Federal Reserve Board that is the central banking system of the US and exists until today.1914 the Clayton Antitrust Act passed and prohibited exclusive sales contracts, local price cutting and interlocking directorates in corporations.1919 the 18th Amendment was passed that banned manufacture, transportation and sale of alcohol.1920 the 19th Amendment is passed, it gave women the right to vote.
