Explanation:
Japan's Kamakura shogunate was overthrown by Ashikaga Takauji, a military leader who had previously served under the Tokugawa government. In 1331, the Kamakura's rule was opposed by the Japanese Emperor Go-Daigo, who launched a military campaign to overthrown the shogunate and restore himself to power. Takauji, then fighting for the Kamakura, led forces against the Emperor, eventually defeating him and exiling him to an island called Oki. However, Takauji defected and turned against the Kamakura, establishing his own shogunate, called the Ashikaga shogunate.
