They tried to do this after world war 1 with the league of nations but it failed. After world war 2 they understood that now it was necessary and had to succeed and they decided to form the United Nations in order to prevent any such war from ever happening again. The United Nations have existed ever since and have participated in numerous military actions worldwide.
