Salutary Neglect was a British policy where the colonies could avoid the strict laws enforced by the parliament that were used to keep colonies loyal to Britain.
Since there was more autonomy given to the colonies that meant that they could develop their own political and legal institutions in America.
They could trade with other nations that were not under British rule and with fewer restrictions came more money. Later they could trade and buy from British merchants and that would benefit both the colonies and the Empire.
