One effect of the Immigration Act of 1965 on Latin Americans was that it made it easier for them to enter the United States.
Further Explanations:
The Immigration act of 1965 eliminated the earlier quota scheme of immigration grounded on national origin and implemented the policy of unifying immigrant families and skilled labors to the United States. The act was centralized law implemented by US 89th Congress and was put to effect by President Lyndon B. Johnson. It intended at eliminating the “National Origin Formulae” prevailing since the 1920s. It also eradicated the discrimination existing against the Europeans, Asians and Northwestern Europeans by instituting the “Preference System” that gave the relatives of United States citizens a legal and everlasting citizenship.
It continued numerical limitations but exempted the immediate family member of the residents of the United States. Execution of the Act increased the arrival of immigrants specifically from Asia and Africa. By equalizing the directives the act also gave rise to immigration from the non-European nations, which brought a drastic change in the ethnic composition of the nation.
