Explanation:
The 1920s saw a transitional movement in every spheres of life. The introduction of modern liberal ideologies and the demand for civil equality grew more stronger than ever. The political and social transformations in urban cities emerged with people embracing new ideas and modernism.
Popular culture in entertainment and literature became an influencing factor in people's lives. The society started to embrace new things and had an open mindset to all transitional ideas.
On the other hand, the traditionalists felt that this new wave of modernism was a threat to the society. They felt that immigration and cultural influence from other countries were giving rise to such movements. They felt that the traditional religion was under threat as people started to embrace a more secular and an agnostic lifestyle.
This fear led to the manifestation of nativism and racism among the traditionalists. In order to protect the society from involving and imbibing modern ideas and lifestyles, they became intolerant towards new cultures and immigration. It also led to the rise of Ku Klux Klan, a fundamentalist group.
