The religious movement affected the English colonies during the 1730s and 1740s. The movement started at a time when the enthusiasm toward the religion was waning away, so to revive the passion for religion, they traveled across the country and taught salvation from sins and promoting enthusiasm for religion. All these activities renewed dedication to religion. Historians claim that these efforts had a lasting impact on the American people and culture as the church membership increased and new religious movements were started. The timeline of the great awakenings is First Awakening (1730-1755), Second Awakening(1790-1840), Third Awakening(1855-1930), Fourth Awakening (1960-1980)
