What were the benefits to factories and coal mines of child labor

Exploiting children was easy since they didn't know a lot and couldn't do anything else. They could pay them whatever and they would just take it. Adults would form labor unions demanding fair wage. Poor little suzy won't live past the age of 18 but at least the factories saved money.
