cross multiplying both side

Now substituting the value of a in either of equation to get distance.

$d= \frac{7}{3} \times (a-15) = \frac{7}{3} \times (60-15)$

∴ d= $\frac{7}{3} \times 45 = 105\ km$

105 km is the distance to the nearby town.
