if over a certain point the all you have to do is plug the points into x and y and remove the y intercept. An example is what line is parallel to y=1/4x+2 and crosses point (4,2).
Then you first have to plug in x and y and remove the y intercept to find a new y intercept. 2=1/4(4)+B
Next is to put together common like terms. 2=1+B
Then subtract one because that's it's opposite leaving B=1
then you substitute or replace the old y intercept with the new one making the answer Y=1/4x+1
