1- For the original rectangle paper:
We have the length = 16 cm and the width = 21 cm
Area1 = length x width = 16 x 21 = 336 cm^2
2- For the rectangle cut from the corner:
We have:
length = 16 - 9 = 7 cm
width = 21 - 6 = 15 cm
Area2 = length x width = 7 x 15 = 105 cm^2
The area of the remaining part can be calculated as follows:
area of remaining part = Area1 - Area2 = 336 - 105 = 231 cm^2
