When the admission price for a baseball game was $42 per ticket, 36,000 tickets were sold. When the price was raised to $49, only 32,000 tickets were sold. Assume that the demand function is linear and that the marginal and fixed costs for the ballpark owners are $7 and $700,000, respectively (a) Find the profit P as a function of x, the number of tickets sold. 32,000. (b) Use a graphing utility to graph P, and comment about the slopes of P when x 22,000, x 28,000, and At x-22,000, the slope of P is At x-28,000, the slope of P isAt x = 32,000, the slope of P is

Work Shown:
f(x) - g(x) = [ f(x) ] - [ g(x) ]
f(x) - g(x) = [9x^3+2x^2-5x+4] - [5x^3-7x+4]
f(x) - g(x) = 9x^3+2x^2-5x+4-5x^3+7x-4 see note below
f(x) - g(x) = (9x^3-5x^3) + 2x^2 + (-5x+7x) + (4-4)
f(x) - g(x) = 4x^3 + 2x^2 + 2x + 0
f(x) - g(x) = 4x^3 + 2x^2 + 2x
note: distribute the negative to EVERY term inside the second set of brackets. So that is how 5x^3-7x+4 turns into -5x^3+7x-4. Basically every sign flips from positive to negative, or vice versa.
