Which is the graph of linear inequality x – 2y ≥ –12?

To find the area of the pentagon, you can break the pentagon into shapes that you know how to find the area of.  There is a triangle above the horizontal line and a trapzoid below the line.

A = 1/2bh (triangle)
      1/2 x 6 x 4
A = 12 square inches

A = 1/2 h(b1 + b2)
       1/2 x 5(4 + 6)
A = 25 square inches.

Add these together to get the total area.

12 + 25 = 37 square inches.
