Occasion:

Purpose: The purpose of this segment of the Gita is for Krishna to instruct Arjuna to seek inner peace. Krishna tells Arjuna that he must be disciplined through relinquishing desires and controlling the senses in his mind. He must view everything in an equal manner because Krishna resides in everything and everything resides in Krishna. Due to the belief that Krishna is omnipresent in all things, one who is devoted to Krishna can achieve oneness with God.
