The ideas of montesquieu, a french writer, influenced the founding fathers to create a government where no one person or part had too much power. why did this idea appeal to the founding fathers? they had experienced the rule of a tyrant. they liked the way louis xvi governed france. they wanted to make sure government was powerful. they believed montesquieu's plan was the best.
