Option (1)
Explanation:
The 'Great Pacific garbage patch' is usually defined as the large collection of marine debris which includes plastic bottles, clothes, and other non-biodegradable particles, found in the northern part of the pacific ocean. This marine debris reaches the ocean through the rivers and streams and the seas. In addition to this, the debris is also released into the ocean when any accidents between the ships occur in the ocean.
These are floating continuously over this region from the last few decades, and are accumulated at the northern Pacific due to the continuous movement of the ocean water forming gyres.
The Garbage Patch is commonly known as the Pacific trash vortex and this allows the water to flow towards Japan, from the Western coast of North America.
Thus, the correct answer is option (1).
