Polar molecules have a positive and a negative area.

Polar molecules contain polar bonds because of the difference in electronegativity between the arms that are bonded. These molecules are net dipole because of opposing charges.  

An example of a polar molecule is water. It has both positive and negative charges on each side. The dipole in water does not cancel. Thus, making water like a net dipole molecule. Because of the polar nature of water, other polar molecules dissolve in water.
